I havent done any better. In fact my head hangs in shame about this all the time. BUt but but. There are other movies I would like to put on this list that IMHO everyone who wants to have a respectable discussion on film should watch. So here goes:

The ones I have seen:
1. 8 1/2
2. Un Chien Andalou (I didnt even register this the first time I read your list. It suddenly came back when I tried to decipher chien, which in french means dog.)
3. A Clockwork Orange
4. Exorcist
5. Fargo
6. Fight Club
7. Pulpfiction
8. Scarface (15 mins only)
9. Psycho (half, I am afraid of scary movies)

Better? Not really. Neither we did have cable when I grew up. Also, cable really doesn't help too much as so called 'classics' are not aired (cabled) too often.

At very young age, I started with 'Gone With the Wind' in a special show in our town. It slowed down till I went to college, after that I started understanding a lot of english spoken in the movies; started watching rampant english movies but proportions of classics were shamefully low.

My count of 'seens' in the list goes to the highest single digit, and many more in my wishlist. What about including a Satyajit Ray in the list too?

@Kousik: Well there's a lot of other movies (Satyajit Ray for sure - Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne!) that would be part of my list. But this is Jim Emerson's...
